Invisalign

Some people avoid straightening their teeth because they do not want to deal with uncomfortable, obvious traditional braces.

Invisalign® is an orthodontic treatment that straightens teeth using clear aligners instead of the brackets and wires of braces.

At Holley Dental Group in Prattville, AL, we provide Invisalign to straighten teeth and improve oral function.

What Is Invisalign?

Invisalign is an orthodontic alternative to traditional braces. Instead of using metal wires and brackets, Invisalign uses a series of clear aligners to gently guide your teeth into
proper alignment.

Why Invisalign Is Incredibly Popular

Over 13 million people, including 3 million teenagers, have had their teeth straightened with Invisalign. So many choose Invisalign treatment because it is:

Discreet

The wires, brackets, and bands of traditional braces stand out. Invisalign's aligners, on the other hand, are clear and discreet. This allows patients to straighten their teeth without broadcasting the fact that they are receiving orthodontic care.

Convenient

Invisalign's aligners are removable. This makes it easy to brush and floss without the special tools or products that may be required by those with braces. Another benefit of removability is that Invisalign users can eat without dietary restrictions, unlike braces patients.

Comfortable

The metal wires and brackets of braces can scratch and irritate the soft tissues in your mouth. They can also break, requiring emergency orthodontic care. Invisalign's clear aligners are made of smooth plastic that avoids irritation and is incredibly durable.

You Don't Need an Orthodontist for Invisalign

A major myth surrounding Invisalign is the idea that it requires visiting an orthodontist. The truth is, dentists are perfectly capable of administering Invisalign orthodontic treatment. Many prefer receiving Invisalign from their trusted dentist instead of having to see a new and unfamiliar orthodontist.

We Use Advanced Technology

Our dentists, Drs. Matthew D. Holley and Graham Mullins, augment their elite dental skills with cutting-edge technology. Patients who receive Invisalign at our Prattville, AL, office benefit from the following and more:

3D Digital Scanner

We prioritize convenience throughout Invisalign treatment, even before your aligners are fitted. Our dentists create our impressions using a 3D digital scanner instead of the uncomfortable putty that is traditionally used.

CBCT Scanner

We use a cone beam scanner to produce incredibly accurate imaging of your mouth, allowing us to plan and carry out precise care. CBCT scans can also be used to simulate and predict root and tooth movement throughout Invisalign treatment.

SmartForce Attachments

We offer subtle, tooth-colored SmartForce® attachments that can take Invisalign's effects to the next level. While not needed by all, these attachments can be added to your aligners to achieve complex tooth movement that may not have otherwise been possible with Invisalign.

The Invisalign Treatment Timeline

Your aligner treatment timeline may vary based on your unique dental needs. Patients with mild concerns may complete treatment faster than those with more moderate issues.
Typically, aligner treatment can be completed in about 12-18 months.

Consultation

Your treatment will start with a consultation at our office in Prattville, AL. One of our dentists will examine your mouth and discuss your goals to determine if you are a candidate for Invisalign.

Impressions

Your dentist will take impressions of your mouth. At Holley Dental Group, we use digital scanning technology. These images are sent to a lab where an Invisalign technician will craft your series of customized aligners.

Treatment

Once your aligners are ready, you will begin treatment by wearing the first set of Invisalign trays. Your aligners must be worn for 20-22 hours a day for optimal results. After about two weeks, you will progress to the next set of aligners in the series.

Checkups

You will visit our Prattville dental practice every about every six weeks for a checkup. This will allow your dentist to monitor your progress and make adjustments as needed.

Smile

After 12-18 months, your treatment will be complete. You will be given a retainer to wear at night to maintain your beautifully straightened smile.

Caring for Your Invisalign Aligners

Caring for your aligners is easy. Here are a few simple things to remember:

Remove Before Eating

Remove your aligners before you eat and drink anything other than water. Be sure to place them in their protective case to prevent damage.

Rinse Before Putting Back

Rinse your trays with lukewarm water before putting them back in your mouth. This will help keep bacteria to a minimum.

Maintain Good Oral Hygiene

Remove the trays to brush and floss your teeth as normal.

Clean the Trays

Use a soft-bristled brush, mild soap, and lukewarm water to clean your trays. Do not use hot water or toothpaste as this could damage the trays.

Invisalign Affordability

Many patients are happy to find out that insurance providers often contribute to the cost of Invisalign treatment. We have decided to take an additional step toward making orthodontics more affordable by accepting CareCredit®, which allows patients to pay for treatment in simple low- or no-interest monthly installments.
